FORMS AND PRESENTATIONS:
Box of 2 blisters x 10 capsules.
 
COMPOSITION:                                                                              
- Loperamide hydrochloride..............................................................................................................2 mg 
- Excipients: q.s.f.........................................................................................................1 capsule
 
INDICATIONS:
Symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea in adults and children.
 
DOSAGE AND MODE OF ADMINISTRATION:
In all cases, you must strictly comply with your doctor’s prescription.
For adults and children over 8 years old: 
 
Acute diarrhea: 
The initial dose is 2 capsules for adults and one capsule for children, followed by one capsule 
after each loose stool, do not exceed 8 capsules per day for adults and 6 capsules per day
for children.
 
Chronic diarrhea: 
1 to 3 capsules per day for adults.
1 to 2 capsules per day for children.
 
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
- Children less than 8 years old, 
- Hypersensitivity to one of the components, 
- Acute episodes of hemorrhagic rectocolitis. 
 
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS FOR USE:
- In general, this drug should not be used when the inhibition of peristalsis is to be avoided. Discontinue the treatment promptly if constipation or abdominal distention occurs.
- The importance of administration of appropriate fluids and electrolyte therapy may be associated to the treatment according to the intensity of diarrhea, ages and particularity of patients (associated diseases,…).
- Do not use this drug in case of acute dysentery (which is characterized by blood in stools and high fever), diarrhea associated with broad-spectrum antibiotics or pseudomembranous colitis.
- This drug should be used with caution and under close medical supervision in patients with hepatic insufficiency because of considerable first-pass metabolism in the liver.
 
DRUG INTERACTIONS:
To avoid possible interactions with other drugs, you should inform your doctor or pharmacist about any other current treatment.                    
 
PREGNANCY AND BREAST-FEEDING:                                          
- Pregnancy: This drug should be only prescribed during pregnancy if necessary. 
- Breast-feeding: This drug can be prescribed for breast-feeding mothers for a prompt use.
ADVERSE EFFECTS: Constipation, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, hypersensitivity reactions (including skin rash), dizziness,…

this leaflet. 
 
STORAGE: Store below 30ºC. Protect from light, heat and humidity.
